Everyday Harrison County residents unknowingly threaten our environment by throwing out household hazardous waste along with their regular trash or by pouring hazardous waste down their sinks, storm drains or sewers. This improper disposal can destroy our environment by polluting our air, water and soil.
To provide residents with a safe and sanitary alternative, the Rockco-McFarland Household Hazardous Waste Site is available. Open the second Saturday of every month from 8 a.m. until noon at 10076 Lorraine Road next to the Sheriff Department, this collection site is free to the public and accepts the following:
Latex or oil based paint
Used cooking or automobile oil
Household, marine and car batteries
Flammable Liquids (such as gasoline)
White goods such as freezers and refrigerators
Fluorescent light bulbs
Tires (up to 25 per household- strictly enforced)
E-waste (electronics) such as computers, cell phones, telephones, televisions
DO NOT BRING THE FOLLOWING (they will not be accepted): Items in a container larger than a 1 or 5 gallon, herbicides, pesticides, asbestos, rubber cement, roofing material, explosives, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, construction debris, furniture, or waste from businesses.
